The Gauloise Dorée chicken, the male of which is known as the Gallic Rooster, is a medium-sized breed which has retained numerous aspects of its original character. As an example, it can still fly for several metres, which is rare these days for domestic chickens. It should be noted that "Gallus" in Latin means both "rooster" and "Gallic".
