Native to sub-Saharan Africa, the spotted hyena is the most sociable species of the carnivore kingdom. Their groups are made up of many individuals and are governed by very complex social behaviors closer to those of certain primates. If the hyena is today one of the most common carnivores in Africa, it is mainly due to its adaptability and opportunism in hunting.
