After a gestation of about 4 months, the lioness can give birth to up to 4 cubs which, during the first days of their life are blinds and entirely dependent on their mother. Until their 4 weeks they will be kept out of the troop and will only be feed by their mother's milk. After that they will be mingled with the rest of the troop.
